Typomřížky

The book Typomřížky (Typogrids) is designed as an annotated and illustrated reference book of grids and layouts for print and digital media. The grids are arranged in chapters according to complexity: from the simplest ones designed for fiction or poetry to complex grids suitable for editorial design, art books or web portfolios. The individual grids are explained through easy-to-understand schemes that represent the arrangement of texts, captions and illustrations.

The book was published in 2024 by UMPRUM Publishing House🔗.

To understand the context, the book is accompanied by a theoretical essay that summarizes the historical development of the use of grids in graphic design and points out the advantages (and disadvantages) of different types of grids. The layout examples are based primarily on the author’s own experience, but also on real projects by other designers, and reflect the current needs of students and more advanced designers of print and electronic publications and websites. The publication is a loose continuation of the successful Typokniha.

The book is 208 pages long and is printed in three colors, black, Pantone 320 U and Cool Gray 4 U. It is set in Plantin🔗 by Monotype and Adapter🔗 by Rosetta Type Foundry. The cover uses the author’s sans serif Pozorius. The book was printed by H.R.G.🔗 printing house in Litomyšl.
